As an Ironwood Student, there are many choices and programs to expand your education. Many programs have applications, and some of these programs are your electives to supplement high school graduation requirements. For any questions, please reach out to the IHS Career Center.
- Arizona Department of Education Diploma Seals.- PUSD Flyer
- Peoria Unified School District has Career Technical Education (CTE) programs that are housed here at IHS and on other PUSD campuses to expand your learning opportunities. If the CTE program classes are on another PUSD campus, you must fill out a Co-Enrollment form and provide it to your school counselor. Ironwood has many CTE programs that you can complete. - CTE Graduation Endorsements
- Peoria Unified School Districts has a partnership with Maricopia County Community Colleges to offer classes here on campus with teachers that have met the (PUSD) high school and the (MCC) college requirements to teach a topic, and these classes are called Dual Enrollment. Look under Dual Enrollment tab on the Career Center page for Ironwood Specific classes.
- Peoria Unified School District has another program called the MET Professional Academy This 1-2 year commitment prepares students for higher education and is housed on Peoria High Schools Campus. Student Applications are available in October for the following year, and are usually selected their 10th grade year.
- International Baccalaureate Diploma- IB.

- Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC) has 4 different campuses around the valley to educate students. The certifications and educational pathways prepare students for the workforce, and are usually selected their 10th grade year.
Outside PUSD Programs
- Glendale Community College has two different programs, ACE and HOOP of Learning. These programs allow you to attend college classes on GCC campus for FREE with other high school students around the valley during summer and on Saturdays. Student Applications are available in October for the following year. Students apply their10th grade year.
- NAACP Maricopa offers FREE college classes through their Back to School- Stay in School Program. This program offers College Classes through Mesa Community College, although the classes are taught in Phoenix on Saturdays.
- Girls State-The American Legion Auxiliary Selects 2 Junior girls from Ironwood to attend a week-long camp at the University of Arizona where students from all over Arizona come to create and live in the 51st State.
- Boys State-The American Legion selects 4 Junior boys from Ironwood to attend a week-long camp at Northern Arizona University where students from all over Arizona come to create and live in the 51st State.
- Civics Matters- Close Up, Governor Hobbs, & the Arizona Cardinals have an Annual Az Essay Contest. The winners have an opportunity to attend a trip to Washington, D.C..
