THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR FAFSA
What is FAFSA?
FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The sooner you file your FAFSA, more aid options will be available to you. To receive federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study, and loans, you need to complete the FAFSA every year you attend college. Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and it gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college or career school. In addition, many states and colleges use your FAFSA information to determine your eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid.
To be considered for federal student aid for the 2025–2026 award year, you can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form between Dec 31, 2024 and June 30, 2025.
What do I need to file a 2025-2026 FAFSA?- FSA ID, which you can create here, or get more information about creating your FSA ID
- Social Security number
- Driver license
- Bank statements
- Parent information (if you're a dependent)
- W-2 forms and tax returns from two years ago (2023 return for the 2025-2026 FAFSA)
- Up to 20 schools you are interested in attending
What happens after I file my FAFSA?
After filing your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) listing all the information you provided in the online application. Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) will be included in the SAR. Colleges will then calculate your estimated cost of attendance (COA). Your EFC is subtracted from your COA to determine your eligibility for aid.
If you have additional questions, you find tutorials and other help materials on FAFSA's Help Page

Access Division Program: https://www.davidson.edu/admission-and-financial-aid/visit/access-davidson
As you plan ahead for senior year, we invite you to consider our Access Davidson program! This fly-in program will take place Sunday, September 14th through Tuesday, September 16th on Davidson College’s campus. This is a selective college visit program designed for high school seniors who will be the first in their family to attend college, students from rural or low-income backgrounds, and/or students who do not have the means to visit campus on their own (either because of geographic distance or financial stress).
Submit our interest form to be notified when the application goes live. The deadline to apply will be Friday, August 1st.
Davidson will cover the cost of transportation to and from campus, meals, and overnight accommodations for program participants. Note that this program is only open to students living and attending high school in the United States and Puerto Rico. Students who have not been on an official visit to campus will be prioritized for participation.
Located 20 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina, Davidson College is a liberal arts college dedicated to cultivating humane instincts and disciplined, creative minds. We are governed by an Honor Code that sets the tone for our academic and residential community. Students are surrounded by an inclusive community of scholars who are smart, driven and kind. It is a community that encourages critical thinking, dignifies hard work, and cultivates enduring relationships. Davidson is also proud to stand as one of only two dozen schools in the country that admit students independent of their family’s ability to pay, meet 100 percent of calculated need, and do so without loans in their aid package.
